My "Simple Woman" Daybook

2 posts in one day...no way!

I got this idea from The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...

Outside my window... Sunshine, shady trees, and my favorite lawn chair

I am thinking... it's a nice day for snow cones and a water balloon fight

I am thankful for... my entire family and a great weekend

From the kitchen... hamburgers straight from the grill

I am wearing... Coral colored tank top, khaki shorts, and my brown/pink flip flops (and my new anklet from the beach)

I am reading... My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

I am hoping... to get my new camera this week

I am creating... some beautiful photographs from the beach to hang on my walls

I am praying... for the peace to continue...and for the summer to not go so quickly..both my babies will be in school next year and I want to savor this time with them

Around the house... everyone happily doing their own thing and not having a care in the world

One of my favorite things... bare feet

A few plans for the rest of the week... swimming at the Y, getting a pool for the house, lots of outdoor play, and clothes shopping for all three of my boys.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend my family and I went to visit my mom. I always love going there because it is so relaxing. My mom has a garden in her backyard and we just sit out there in the evenings enjoying the sun and breeze. She lives in a little town called Waco, TX. It is the perfect place to raise children. There is so much to do for families! This time we went to the Cameron Park Zoo and Bowling. Both of which were entirely too much fun!

Love this photo!

I took this photo around January of this year and it automatically became my favorite picture of the boys! I love how it clearly shows their personality. It was brought out even more by the Ferris Wheel Action by On The Spot Studio. Given away ONLY as a freebie to those on Clickin' Moms. I love how it gives it a soft, vintage feel to it! Every once in a while I will have a post like this that just showcases a picture of my boys or something. Scrapbooking is my first hobby, but photography has always been my second favorite hobby.

What's in a name?

I'm not entirely sure how these nicknames came to be. Trent , my oldest, (Beanie) had what could only be described as a bobblehead when he was a baby. It was so much bigger than his body and when you held him it would just bobble around while he tried to learn how to hold it up. Somehow from "Bobblehead and Bobbie" my husband started calling him "Beanhead" which was then shortened to "Beanie". So far he's OK with the nickname. I even call him it at school when I go up there and he doesn't get embarrassed.

Craig, my youngest, (Cheese). I have no idea when or how this one came to be, but it has become fitting. The boy can eat you out of house and home when it comes to cheese. Any kind of cheese. Loves it all.

These two are my entire world. I've been a SAHM for their whole lives. I take that back...I had 2 part time jobs during the day when they went to Pre-K and Daycare for the social aspect, but I was home at the time they were home. I have been entirely lucky for this and I know it. I know there are many many many moms who only wish to stay at home, but for whatever reason can not do so. Next year both my babies will be in school for the first time. Beanie will be going into Second Grade and Cheese will be in Kindergarten. I don't know what I will do. Probably cry. LOL. It will be bittersweet that's for sure. But, this is what all the staying at home was about right? Preparing them for the big scary world they are about to face. Well. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. They are only going to school 3 blocks from the house, not off miles away to college. Plus, starting tomorrow...we have summer break! Hope you're having a fantastic day!

When I was 16 years old my mom was admitted to the hospital with what they said were anxiety attacks. 3 hospital visits later, two life flights, and 17 doctors later a hospital intern told the doctors to check her lungs. There they found multiple blood clots filling both her lungs and diagnosed her with Factor IV Leiden. Now it's almost 10 years later and I thank God everyday for that intern.

I also applied to be on Chris Greiser's CT! I'm very excited about this and I hope to make it! I have started reading Creating Keepsakes magazine. I never picked this up before because it seemed to be more for paper scrappers, but it has a lot of wonderful sketch ideas in it! It's fun and interesting to try and figure out the sketches and measurements in digital form. I have also added a slideshow on the sidebar to showcase my favorite layouts. Ok, well I am off. Got a Beanie to get to school and then I have to come back home and get ready for a doctor's appt. Cheese is so happy he gets to spend the day with Daddy today!

Weird Collection and a few Scraps

Ok, I know that people collect many weird, weird things. Hair, Rocks, Stamps, etc... but, for some reason my newest obsession has been reusable shopping bags. I love seeing all the cute ones around town. This weekend my husband and I had a shopping spree of sorts and ended up at 3 different comic book stores. Well, one ended up being only a store for the Warcraft game, but still. At one of the comic book stores, I walked in the door and immediately started drooling. There, as soon as you walk in, hanging pleasantly on a hook, having no idea what was about to hit it was this:

Isn't it awesome? Wonder Woman helping me carry my groceries! I told you it was a weird obsession. Well, after I found that wonderful little jewel, we went to Toys-R-Us. There in all it's glory was this whole entire stand of different printed reusable bags. They had the cutest pink bag with a pink elephant on it that I really really wanted to take home with me, but my husband already rolling his eyes about the Wonder Woman bag politely gave me the look that said "if you bring one more bag into our house, I'm moving out" so, I didn't get it....yet. But, trust me I will.

In scrapping news, I seem to have gone on a shopping spree of sorts all by myself. My very greatest was over at www.catscrap.com . One of my favorite designers Amanda of Taylormade Designs (who designed the kit that made this blog background by the way) had a contest. She gave everyone a mini-kit and template and asked us to make as many layouts as we could using it. I tried very hard and made 40 layouts over those 3 days, but one daring soul made 70 freaking layouts!! I couldn't believe it. First prize was a 100% shopping spree in her guest shop there. Since Amanda is such a wonderful person, she gave me and about 5 others a coupon good for 50% off her store. Here's a preview of what all I got!

Be sure to check out Taylormade at her blog: http://www.taylormade-designs.net/
I can't wait to get to scrapping with these products! When I finish my layouts I'll post them here! Well, that's it for today! See you tomorrow!
